Thankful Thursday

Each week we encourage you to tune in, join the discussion and pass on your own thankful thoughts!

We are thankful for the hope that the new year brings–2015 was rough, and it seems like 2016 was worse.  Here’s hoping that 2017 will bring a breath of fresh air.

We are thankful for the strength brought to us by our struggles and losses.  There is a certain feeling of greatness knowing that you’ve overcome or lived through something.  A imaginary life medal, or a level up in the game of life is something to be treasured–what did you overcome this year?

Year in review part 2

2016 has brought on a lot of surprises, and what seem to be a lot of failings. (If you believe in numerology, 2016 is a 9 year–an ending.  Which means 2017 is a 1 year–a new beginning.)

Some people view failure as disappointment and frustration. But as I wrote earlier this year, we learn SO MUCH MORE during our losses and mistakes then from our successes. So Why Not Fail?

Happy Holidays from Clare and LL

Hi all!!  Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Holidays to you and yours.  We hope that you have an amazing and supportive family around you, whether it be a family of relations or an urban family.  We send you love and hugs and a cup of cheer!.

With peace, love, enlightenment, and a cup of something boozy,

xoxo–Clare and LL

We are thankful for alternative shopping–a mall is great for the holidays, but when you can shop online, or through an independent consultant, or a street fair, or craft fair, you feel like you’re getting more out of your time.  Remember, if you’re giving gifts, you should keep your stress level low–otherwise, the point of giving goes out the window!

We are thankful for the gift of laughter or time.  It costs nothing to smile at a stranger, tell an acquaintance a joke, or sit on the phone or a park bench with a friend for a few minutes.  Gifts of smiles and time are truly the best ones–smile at someone, and reach out to someone today!!

Year in review part 1

We don’t know about you, but both halves of LCL had crazy work years. Maybe during this holiday season, it’s a good time to look back and reflect–did you work too hard in 2016?  Are you making the right life choices?  What is the most important thing to you–work? Family? Creating things? Experiencing life? Maybe start to make plans for 2017 this next week.

For review–here’s my blog on Being a workaholic.  Lie back, rest and enjoy!

Goals update 2016 #49 LL

Sooo, this is it for 2016 huh…it’s that “hurry up and wait” sort of thing. I cannot believe how this year has gone. Recently I was asked my definition of success. Success I feel is a strong word that can cut like a knife. I feel you have to create your own definition of what success is to you. For me, it means the freedom to do what I want when I want it. I feel very successful these days. But, this also means that as I grow my definition will also change.

Looking ahead to 2017 my definition is evolving a bit more. I’ll share it with you once I have a clearer idea what it is. For now, please note that while I freaking love goals and setting them, I also believe you have to be clear you are not just focusing on achievement.

I think it’s easy to become achievement based. But, fulfillment is going to be more satisfying. Everything I achieved this year has been extremely amazing. I sit here looking back and am feeling so good about many choices I made. I also sit here and realize there are some things that I focused on that didn’t matter, that I could have done differently and others that surprised me!

This week as I teach my final sessions of 2016 and look forward to the year ahead I have one word on my mind. This past year was a Fabulous and Fierce thesis. This upcoming year is about Creating. Oh, I cannot wait to share my creations! What will your year be?

We are thankful for workouts that stretch us and challenge us.  Get out of that comfort zone and make yourself stronger!

We are thankful for hot running water.  Its something we take for granted, but many countries, and many people in our own country don’t get to use on a regular basis.  And, really, there is NOTHING like a hot shower or bath to soothe you.  Go enjoy one!!

Gift yourself with a Decision

Holidays can become all about the gifts, to-do list and end of the year projects. It’s easy to feel pulled in every direction but towards yourself and your dreams. There are the parties you have to go to and the ones you want to go to. The gifts you have to buy, want to buy and there is YOU!

With so many things spinning in the air and the search for the perfect gift, it can be easy to begin waffling. Should I go here, do this, should I buy this or this? What if he/she doesn’t like it? Should I go to this party first? Should I go early? Maybe I should leave late? All these options can become too much and make the end of the year feel like one endless list of decisions to make.

Give yourself a gift that will cost you absolutely nothing! Take a moment to look ahead and decide yes or no on as many things as you can. Do it in the morning when your decision-making muscle is strong. Decide where you will go and when. Write it down so it’s out of your head and on your schedule. Decide to buy the gift that you first thought they would like. They can always return it. Go the party, you can always leave early. Or, decide not to go at all. If the day comes, and you have a desire to change your mind then fine but thinking about what you will do all week long is just a waste of brain space and truly is a way to procrastinate on something else.

You cannot be all things to all people, but you can be everything you need to be for yourself. What decisions will you make this week?

Goals update #48 2016 LL

As my final weeks of 2016 approach, I have been spending more time percolating on 2017. I feel the last three years have each had their own themes. Each year I have grown more and more. I have been challenged in ways I hoped and in ways, I didn’t expect. I still have not decided on what 2017 will have in store but here is what I know for this week.

  1. Focus on filling my Retreats. I have only 4 spots left for my retreat to Angkor. Only 6 spots left for my Retreat to Maui. We just announced our Day Retreat here in LA, and there are 8 spots.
  2. Prepare the social for the last week of December and First Week of January. I do not like to work on Jan 1.
  3. Think about what I want to consume more of and where I want to spend time contributing
  4. Final reading os 2016 and first readings of 2017
  5. Begin starting each day creating instead of on tasks. I want to see how this goes and if this is how I will structure my work days.

Tell me, what are you most excited about as the end of 2016 approaches?

xx~LL

We are thankful for the ability to adult!  It is such a nice thing to be able to do things like an adult–even though we can’t begin to define “adult” for you.  Sensible and responsible people or even just moments of sensibility and responsibility from others are a wonderful strength to witness.

We are thankful for childlike innocence.  To stop and witness something like a child, in the midst of all of this adulting is truly a worthwhile stop–take a moment, and just enjoy something today just as a child would!
