Happy Holidays from Clare and LL

Hi all!!  Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Holidays to you and yours.  We hope that you have an amazing and supportive family around you, whether it be a family of relations or an urban family.  We send you love and hugs and a cup of cheer!.

With peace, love, enlightenment, and a cup of something boozy,

xoxo–Clare and LL

Thankful Thursday

Each week we encourage you to tune in, join the discussion and pass on your own thankful thoughts!

We are thankful for alternative shopping–a mall is great for the holidays, but when you can shop online, or through an independent consultant, or a street fair, or craft fair, you feel like you’re getting more out of your time.  Remember, if you’re giving gifts, you should keep your stress level low–otherwise, the point of giving goes out the window!

We are thankful for the gift of laughter or time.  It costs nothing to smile at a stranger, tell an acquaintance a joke, or sit on the phone or a park bench with a friend for a few minutes.  Gifts of smiles and time are truly the best ones–smile at someone, and reach out to someone today!!

Thankful Thursday

Yes, we know it’s Wednesday! But, we want you to enjoy these grateful moments before the holiday.

Each week we encourage you to tune in, join the discussion and pass on your own thankful thoughts!

We are thankful for friends and family far and wide.  We are thankful for the blood relations that drive us crazy, and the urban families we have created to make us sane.

We are thankful for tables full of food, and that we are not hungry, and we can help those who are.

Nine ways to win at life

Advice. We all seek it until we don’t want it (which is when we actually need it). Its always changing too, both our needs of the advice and the actual advice. As we grow, or refuse to grow, the advice pool is always there. Here are some pieces of advice, that will help you win at life.

  • Worry. This is a must. Do it daily, because when you don’t worry, things don’t get done, or people get hurt, or life changing or threatening things happen. Worry fixes everything, and takes up very minimal brainwaves. So please, make sure to worry every day. Constantly, if possible.
  • Be Impatient. There is nothing that makes other people more happy to help you as when you are completely irrational and impatient—they know you have a schedule, and they know that you are the most important person/thing/happening in their life, so if you keep reminding them with your impatience, this will help you get what you need done.
  • Do everything at once. People who can’t do, multitask. If you try to do everything at once, you have the perfect excuse when you can’t finish anything. And if you get everything done while trying to do it at once, well, that is just a double win, now isn’t it?
  • Perfect perfection. Always focus on being the absolute best. Never settle for anything less. Ever. Never forgive yourself or others if perfection isn’t achieved daily.
  • Rudeness rules. Everyone else is so much less important than you are, and they just don’t understand your life, your needs or your time limits. So why not use rudeness, and pepper it with a LOT of sarcasm, so they understand who you are and will get out of your way so you can be that amazing person, and live your amazing life.
  • Focus on yourself. When you focus just on you, you understand yourself. You will always have to live with yourself, unlike everyone else. No one else has to live with you every day, so you’re the only one who knows what you need and when. Even if you don’t know. You can just sit there and focus on it and commiserate with yourself. Eventually everyone will realize that this is the best way to make yourself the best.
  • Throw everyone under the bus. Remember to get to number one, you have to get there first. If that means you have to pave the way with bodies, do it.
  • Know you’re perfect. Never try to learn anything new, make yourself better, understand others, grow, change, or delineate from your original self or plan. It only leads to destruction.
  • Never, ever, ever stop to breathe or take a moment. Woo-woo people who light candles and believe in things bigger than themselves take time to stop and breathe. You are on your way to winning at life, and your body does those things naturally, so why stop and take the time to do them?

If you’ve read this far, and stayed with me the entire way, I hope you are laughing. This was all sarcasm… To live a great life, do the OPPOSITE of all of these things. There is NO winning life. There is just LIVING life. Mistakes happen. We all get broken and bruised—but you just have to keep getting back up and trying again. Breathe. Be kind. Do the best you can. No one is perfect and we should STOP SEEKING perfection–it doesn’t exist.  Live your life for YOU, but don’t knock everyone down on your way. You’ll be much happier.

Xoxo–Clare

Being always available to others leaves no time for you.

Why are you constantly available? Cell phones. Laptops. Internet. All of these things make us continually available. Which is great, because anyone can reach us anywhere at any time. But. Anyone can reach us anywhere at any time.

I have a client who is tormented by her devices. She feels like people are upset with her if she doesn’t respond quickly to anything and every way people try to reach her. It’s almost like she’s a character in a horror movie, running from the unstoppable poltergeist–her words!

In a session she was complaining about how she felt like she didn’t have quiet time. And felt strung out because she was always answering to someone. A breath later she was commenting about how someone on the train to our session was on the phone and she couldn’t believe that they took a call on the train–and she felt annoyed by this. My response? I told her it was her choice and also her fault. Today we are allowed to connect with anyone and everyone and then he means possible. She has been complaining about how she is always there for her friends, coworkers, and boyfriend. Which sounds like to me is her choice.

The secret to not getting strung out; it’s not what you think. The secret: is to turn off your phone. Leave your computer in the other room. Schedule time for yourself. And do not let anyone else take that time. Whenever you take more time for yourself, you allow yourself needed rest to be able to deal with not only your life but everyone else’s.

Goals updates 2016 #37 Clare

I don’t know how to follow last week!

Debt management is underway!

I have an exciting project in the works!

Fall is in full swing!

I’ve hurt my shoulders so I’m taking it easy on the sun salutations.

My show opens a week from yesterday!  Check it out: Waste, Fraud and Abuse The Musical

Having goals trouble–map it out!

Sometimes its hard to get focused on goals because the one you have in mind is overwhelming because it seems like it is too big or lots of steps.  However, if you sit down and write it all out, acknowelge all of the steps, it really isn’t as gregorious as you imagine.

Here is a blog on goal mapping and here is another on making lists… both will help you in achieving perspective through writing your needs and ideas out.

The main thing is to keep moving forward with those goals, even small steps.  A little each day will help you get to the main goal!

I’m in a show!  Waste, Fraud, and Abuse The Musical

I found a copy editor!

I’ve got a date with a friend to clean out my summer wardrobe next week to delete anything I don’t need or didn’t wear or like this season!  It will be gone soon!

Ugh… finances are still crap…

I’m back to doing my Sun Salutations every morning.  I feel so much better!!

Goals updates 2016 #34 Clare

I love the fall!  But I feel so overwhelmed!  LL and I had a discussion about our goals and where we are in our journey this year.  I feel like I’ve done pretty well in some areas and not so well in others.

Fall always seems like we’re turning the corner to the end of the year, but it also feels like a fresh start.  So I’m revising my goals.  Maybe one of the reasons I’ve not been successful is that I didn’t quite know what I wanted, and made the wrong goal.  Maybe one of the reasons I’ve had trouble keeping up with my goals is that I’m now bored with the daily steps, or I’ve hit a ceiling.  So 2016 goals revised:

  1. Fitness-This one  I’m keeping exact–keep up with a small exercise daily–I’m sticking with sun saluations.
  2. Finances-This one I keep avoiding.  So I’m going to put it on hold for now and see what my goal really is.
  3. Organization–I’ve cleaned out my closet to a good extent… but I’ve also seemed to fill up the empty spaces.  Maybe I need to shop less!
  4. Book–I’m not sure why this one isn’t working.  Its a big step next: publishing.  I don’t know why I’m scared.  I’m still waiting for help… but I think I need to start asking for help again.
  5. Agent-I’m in a show and reaching out to many about it.  I’m going to focus on going to lots of auditions for the fall.  Getting good work will get me an agent!

Thankful Thursday

Each week we encourage you to tune in, join the discussion and pass on your own thankful thoughts!

We are thankful for green plants!  They make the world a cooler place–literally and figuratively!  Look around you today, look at all the greenery–or look at your lack of greenery… maybe you need to adopt a plant!

We are thankful for seasons–LL in LA doesn’t get them as much as she used to when she lived in NoCal… and Clare misses the steady summer of Cali, but LOVES watching the leaves change.  We hope that where ever you are, you are embracing the change, or the steadyness of the seasons and your life.
