Goals update #46 LL

After spending almost five days up with family for the holiday, it is time to get back to work! I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Catching up can seem annoying and overwhelming. My advice when in these instances is to think about how I’ll feel once it is all over. I will feel freaking awesome when the list is all caught up.

Personal: I’m launching a new blog chronicling my stomach adventures and food recipes. It will be therapeutic and fun. This week I’ve got to get three blogs ready to post. Stay tuned!

Health: I’m trying to survive one more week before a new doctors appointment. I’ll be combining a Low Fodmap diet with a no gluten, grain or dairy diet. Yes, there is still plenty of good food to eat.

Financial: It’s my final four weeks of teaching for the year. I’m readying up my accounts to send off to my CPA and zeroing out any bills I have. Getting ready to start 2017 off nice and fresh.

Business: I’ve got a couple of programs I am launching for 2017, three retreats already planned and getting my clients set up before the holidays.

I had an amazing four days chilling with my family and dogs! It is so important to take the time just to do nothing. I’m pretty freaking grateful.

Goals Update 2016 #45 LL

I wake up today excited! In a few days, I will be on the road with my Husband and puppies to see my family for Thanksgiving. I’m unable to eat most of what is traditional.  Don’t worry, I bring my food and only enough for one serving.  I get to spend more time enjoying my family and less time feeling stuffed to the gills.

This week my goals for myself are quite simple:

On the Drive up I will get rid of most of my weekly tasks, once I arrive there will no work until the drive back down!

The goal for Wednesday night-Sunday morning: Rest, relax and enjoy time with family!

It may require a bit of extra work today and tomorrow, but it’s worth it. What extra things can you do today so that you can chill out this holiday weekend?

Goals Update #42 2016 LL

Holy Freaking COW! There are only 10 more weeks left in 2016….Thank goodness 2017 is available. I’m going to need it.

I just reviewed my goals for 2016. There are some I have decided to bump to 2017 because I just couldn’t fit them in. Not that I didn’t make time. I didn’t have the time. As you know this past month I made some room for more. These are the things that I am looking into checking out with this new “room” I have:

  1. Improve class
  2. Read more books
  3. Speaking appearances
  4. Camping trips

This week I am tying off a few projects and chewing on a few new ones to launch in 2017

Health: continuing to work on this new herb regimen and focus on stress less to help my stomach heal

Financial: paying off some big retreat bills and looking at 2017 needs

Personal: having more brunch with friends and date nights with my husband

Business: lots of follow ups since I just spent a week in a Pilate world hanging with fellow teachers, presenters and friends.

Goals Update 2016 #41 LL

I know I have said it before but I love writing my updates each week. Sharing with you what I’m working on keeps me focused, on track but also allows me to be flexible in my approach to my journey. All of you have been so supportive along that way that it helps me to be honest with you and myself about where I am with my goals.

This week I am headed to the annual PMA conference. It is a Pilates Instructor gathering that I have been attending since 2009. It’s like a reunion for Pilates instructors. I get to hang out with some of my dearest friends. This years meeting has some key moments of celebration for some of the things I have been working towards.

  1. I wanted to live this year with a fierce and fabulous filter. I’m doing a lip sync battle on Friday. Something I would never have done before.
  2. I’m shooting for an article for a 2017 issue of Pilates Style. This has been a dream of mine since I became an instructor in 2008.
  3. A big announcement Friday that is in line with my goal of becoming more involved than I already am in the Pilates community.
  4. Spending more time IRL with friends.

Some more updates:

Financial: I got my numbers to my financial adviser. I also got honest with her about where I want my money to be invested and what’s most important today. I know I should be saving for my retirement but developing my businesses needs to be priority.

Health: I have released myself of a lot of stress in the last two weeks. Not that my job was stressful but I was carrying stress trying to do everything all at once with all of my efforts. I didn’t want to let anyone down. Now that I have let go of some of the plates I was spinning I am able to catch stress as it’s happening and release it. My stomach isn’t perfect but the less stress is helping.

Personal: I’ve been spending more time with my dogs and friends this last week and that has been incredible. I’m about to go on a hike as I write this. My yoga and Pilates practice all year have been so strong and consistent. I am super thankful LA has the weather it has so that I can make up for lost hikes!

Business: I’ve been focusing more on interacting with studios, magazines and instructors all over the world. 2017 is going to be a big travel year. That’s what I am manifesting anyways. But, one can manifest all day and nothing can happen. It’s about connecting and doing things today that will produce the travel of tomorrow!

Goals Update 2016 #40 LL

This week is my first real week out working just for myself. It’s still a transition. I am focusing on eliminating projects that no longer are in line with my purpose. Reconnecting with friends that I have wanted to have coffee with but my schedule didn’t allow and gearing up for a big week next week! I’ll be teaching at the annual PMA gathering in Phoenix, AZ!

Business: I’m making sure that Pilatini®Nights and my upcoming UK Retreat are getting out in the eyes of those who need to hear about it!

Financial: I am meeting with my advisor to make sure that with all the new changes I am on track to do the things I want to do when I want to do it!

Health: I’m hoping to get back in with my stomach people. I’m still not where I think I should be. My stomach still is showing that it has not healed yet. I wanted to just give upon this goal last week. I had a few nights of just horrid pain but I don’t want this to be my “normal” so I must continue the course!

Personal: I passed my final module assessment for “The Work”. This was the hardest one for me! I really went for it and it paid off. Now, it’s all about making sure I get stronger as the workshop is just a few weeks away.

Goals updates 2016 #34 Clare

I love the fall!  But I feel so overwhelmed!  LL and I had a discussion about our goals and where we are in our journey this year.  I feel like I’ve done pretty well in some areas and not so well in others.

Fall always seems like we’re turning the corner to the end of the year, but it also feels like a fresh start.  So I’m revising my goals.  Maybe one of the reasons I’ve not been successful is that I didn’t quite know what I wanted, and made the wrong goal.  Maybe one of the reasons I’ve had trouble keeping up with my goals is that I’m now bored with the daily steps, or I’ve hit a ceiling.  So 2016 goals revised:

  1. Fitness-This one  I’m keeping exact–keep up with a small exercise daily–I’m sticking with sun saluations.
  2. Finances-This one I keep avoiding.  So I’m going to put it on hold for now and see what my goal really is.
  3. Organization–I’ve cleaned out my closet to a good extent… but I’ve also seemed to fill up the empty spaces.  Maybe I need to shop less!
  4. Book–I’m not sure why this one isn’t working.  Its a big step next: publishing.  I don’t know why I’m scared.  I’m still waiting for help… but I think I need to start asking for help again.
  5. Agent-I’m in a show and reaching out to many about it.  I’m going to focus on going to lots of auditions for the fall.  Getting good work will get me an agent!

Goals #30–2016 LL

I am FLYING right now! I am so stimulated inside and out. I just completed my 3rd module of 4 in “The Work.” As part of my 2016 goals I wanted to complete all 4 modules this year and have fun while doing it! So far I am doing just that.

This week I am digesting all the info I just learned. I am also putting plans into action for my Pilates retreats and other things for 2017. See, around here we have been setting goals up for 2018 and beyond. Yes, this means I am working on goals for today and goals for the future at the same time. But when you love what you do and you know where you want be doing it these goals are magic.

The other exciting thing about being in your goals and really working with them is how much they inspire you to dream even bigger next time. Has this ever happened to you?

Goals Update 2016 #27 LL

I have been spending the last 4 days with my Mom! She is visiting LA and we have been enjoying some quality time together. Weekends like this is when I really have to trust my work/life blend. There is a balancing act when ever anyone visits. I’m happy to say that this blend is working. It’s all about planning. Just like goal setting is all about planning.

This week I’m doing a lot of evaluation. Where is everything heading? Is that the direction I want still? How will what I am doing today affect what I want for 2017?

Personal: The podcast I do with my husband is 5 weeks in and doing great. It’s so fun to have something to do together.

Financial: We are on track. It’s a new track but it’s working. Sometimes you just have to re-work the plan.

Business: My reach is expanding! It’s really incredible to hear the feedback from those reading my business blogs and interacting on social media.

Goals update 2016 #22 LL

One of my biggest goals for 2016 was to figure out what is going on with my stomach. If you have followed some of my updates I have talked about going off sugar and other tests trying to solve the problem. It has definitely been lots of trials, errors, patience and truly just sticking with the goal.

I’ve been working closely with some doctors and we know a few things it is not. I have another test this week and the prep for it is the focus of this week when it comes to my health. Stay tuned on the results. I’m so hoping I can cross this goal off and focus on some other things.

Goals Update 2016 #21 Clare

OMG!!! I can’t believe we’re half way through this year.  So a quick look back to begin.  Ok, honestly, I didn’t think I would be as good in some of these areas as I am–fitness, organization, agent.  But I’m kind of bummed about where I am in Finance and my book…

However, the proud is out weighing the bummed!

 

Finance:

I paid most of my taxes. I’ve started a savings plan for next year.

Fitness:

Still going strong.  Daily sun salutations.  Not gonna lie, some days I’d rather sit on the sofa then do them, but then I think–hey, I can still listen to music or watch tv… and these DON’T take THAT long.

Organization:

Summer clothes are all out, and winter clothes are put away.  UGH.  I need to detox some of the summer stuff.  I’m gonna go with “if I didn’t wear it last summer, its going in a pile.  If I think about it tomorrow, I’ll keep it.  If I don’t, off to be donated!”

Book:

Formatting and making edits from one of my copy editors!

Agent:

Still hoping to book.  Summer is super slow in my business, and in this city.  So I might not have a ton to update here until fall.
