Goals Update 2016 #40 LL

This week is my first real week out working just for myself. It’s still a transition. I am focusing on eliminating projects that no longer are in line with my purpose. Reconnecting with friends that I have wanted to have coffee with but my schedule didn’t allow and gearing up for a big week next week! I’ll be teaching at the annual PMA gathering in Phoenix, AZ!

Business: I’m making sure that Pilatini®Nights and my upcoming UK Retreat are getting out in the eyes of those who need to hear about it!

Financial: I am meeting with my advisor to make sure that with all the new changes I am on track to do the things I want to do when I want to do it!

Health: I’m hoping to get back in with my stomach people. I’m still not where I think I should be. My stomach still is showing that it has not healed yet. I wanted to just give upon this goal last week. I had a few nights of just horrid pain but I don’t want this to be my “normal” so I must continue the course!

Personal: I passed my final module assessment for “The Work”. This was the hardest one for me! I really went for it and it paid off. Now, it’s all about making sure I get stronger as the workshop is just a few weeks away.

Here’s to you and your goals this week! xx~LL

Goals Update 2016 #39 LL

This last week was pretty planned out and then life happened as it usually does. Some major changes that were coming in the future but happened a little sooner than anticipated.

This week:

Re-evaluating schedule and timeline of certain work projects. Can they happen sooner?

Financial: meeting with adviser next week to recalibrate the goals. Big changes don’t just effect where you go and when they also effect where you make money and spend it.

Fitness: it’s my final Pilates assessment for The work! All workouts are to help me rock that test.

Personal: finally putting out our wedding photos…I’m telling you so that we are held accountable to this!

Business: thinking bigger! Dreaming as big as I can so I can push what’s working to the next level!

Goals updates 2016 #37 LL

I’m here! I have arrived!

5 years ago I dreamed I would be here.

2 years ago I tried and lost

1 year ago I tried again and lost

Today I am here. I am here for 2 days!!!

Sometimes you get what you want but it is bigger than you could have imagined.

That is all I have for this week. I will try to share more in the future. But for today I must enjoy every minute of what is happening right here, right now, in this moment.

Goals updates 2016 #36 LL

I am so excited for this week! Ok, first September and October are jam freaking packed. There is not a day that doesn’t have a important task. But, that’s what I am excited about. It’s too easy to go “wo is me. I’m so busy….blah blah blah.” Honestly, many of my projects are finally taking off. It’s time to buckle up and enjoy the ride. After October I’ll get to see where they all land. Maybe even sooner.

Business: I’ve got a photo shoot this Friday so I have stock images for my profitablepilates.com blog. It’s time to systemize things and this is one of them. Then another shoot on Saturday. This one will be fun. I have been scoping out some awesome locations. Stay tuned to my Profitable Pilates IG account for these babies. I’m also preparing some major workshops to be debuted on PilatesAnytime.com. Stay tuned for next weeks post as I talk more about that goodness.

Fitness: I’ve got one month to get myself ready for my 4th “The Work” module. This one is a tough one for me. It’s hitting some spots that I need to work on within myself (not just fitness wise). But, this week I am committed to working on it every day.

Finances: We decided to go ahead and just purchase the big last purchases of the year. Flights, rental cars etc for all our holiday travels. Now, we know how much we need to pay off by the end of the year. Much easier than it hanging over our head.

The infamous stomach: well, it’s in process.

Oh, one more thing! I am challenging myself to be clear each day on what my purpose is for that day. What outcome do I want. Eye on the prize my dears!

Goals 2016 #33 LL

As this week begins I’ll be back at my Ayurvedic specialist. Unfortunately, I am back to where I was before I worked with him. It’s only been two weeks and the first started off much more promising than anything else. The GI system is an interesting beast. So, I’m staying as positive as I can and not giving up yet.

Business wise I have had some amazing strides this week. The saying the best time to plant tree is 20 years ago and the second best is now…so freaking true. I have been planting seeds for three years and they are finally sprouting. I cannot wait to announce whats blooming!

Financially I was able to give back last week. I taught for charity and it felt so good to do something I love in an effort to help those in need. I hope to be able to do it again soon!

Which makes me wonder what do you love to do that you can do one hour this week to help someone else?

7 Secrets for Patience

I’ve heard it said many times that we are Human Doings, not Human Beings…which explains our lack of patience: we continually seek to do, not to be. Living in the moment is one of the most difficult tasks we have as thinking, thriving humans. But it is one of the most important.

I just saw one of those memes that said: Worry means you’re living in the past, Anxiety means you’re living in the future. Calm means you’re living in the moment. Really, patience is letting go of that anxiety and worry and focusing on the things that need your attention now.

Patience is one of those essences that I seem to continually strive for, but am seen as someone who has a lot of. Truth is, it’s all about perspective and distraction. I feel like 1/8 of my life is sitting and waiting. So I’ve become good at entertaining myself, which to the outside observer makes me seem good at being patient. Truth be told, like a magician, it’s all about slight of hand to yourself.

Here are my secrets:
1) Resign yourself to it. Give in. Patience has to happen. Waiting will occur. Breathe. Shrug your shoulders. Give over the power and control to whatever deity you choose and say it in your most believable Ice Cube: Bye, Felicia.

2) Now that you’ve told whatever you’re waiting for, bye for now, focus on something else. I’m sure there are a million options to you sitting and staring at the situation to change. Go work on a hobby, go learn a new skill, go call friends/return emails/catch up, clean your home, read/write/watch TV, bake, sleep, basically turn your back on your waiting game and put all your focus elsewhere.

For example–I’m currently waiting to hear about an audition. It’s a very important one. A dream role. But I know I cannot show up and do my best work until someone else says they are available. This made me obnoxiously anxious for a few weeks–inside and out. I’d told a few people about it, and they are continually checking in with me, the one trying to wait patiently in the waiting room of my brain–which has no smooth jazz Muzak to soothe me.
3) Come to terms with, or realize, or acknowledge that for whatever reason, whatever deity or power doesn’t want this in your life right now. You can also say: whatever, FAIT. (I spelled it right. “Fuck All, I’m Tired.” F-A-I-T.)

This is kinda step one as well, but really, to be good at patience you have to hear that voice and constantly tell it to hush. That you’re busy in the moment, but you’re ready when the time comes. It’s just not the time yet.

4) Remind yourself that you’ve been patient before, you can definitely do it again. As Kimmy Schmidt said down in the bunker when turning the crank: I can do anything for 10 seconds. And when that 10 seconds is up I’ll do another 10. (As in: she survived the last amount of time, she can survive the next allotment).

5) Other than reminding yourself that you’re capable, don’t compare yourself to anyone else or even previous versions of yourself. Stories and myths of waiters like Job, Penelope, and even Sisyphus come to my mind a lot when I need to be patient–by the way if you need to go look up those references, go for it. I can wait!

Good you’re back–these are stories. Myths. If they did happen, their timeline and life is totally different from yours. Your timeline is even different from yours in the past. The last time I went to the DMV it was delightful, even though I waited for over 90 min.  It was agony the time before that, and I probably was the same or less time, but I set myself up to wait.  Which brings me to secret 6:

6) Prepare to wait.  Set yourself up to be patient.  To the DMV, I brought a snack, water, a fully charged phone and a book. I prepared to wait. I settled in and was actually annoyed when my number was called. Ha! I ALWAYS take a book to the post office these days–I know its going to be a wait, so I get ready for it.  Auditions ALWAYS have waiting.  I’ve just learned to keep a snack, a book, and a charger on me at all times–because you never know when you’ll have to be patient.

7) Don’t give whatever it is, the satisfaction when it finally arrives. Just pretend it’s a normal thing on a normal day. This will help your mindset and balance in the scope of the world next time you have to be patient.

Like anything else, patience takes practice, ESPECIALLY in our instant society. I now live for the ellipsis on text message to go away–I want my friends to finish their texts to me!!! But, time is a good thing. Living in the moment is a good thing. Patience is a good thing. Practice. Breathe. Bring yourself into this moment. The next one will come soon enough, a whatever you’re waiting for.

One of my favorite quotes from Rumi starts: Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves…

Good luck!

Goals 2016 update #1 LL

Hey Hey, we are officially into the New Year! Here’s what I have been up to so that 2016 will be the year of living with fierce and fabulous strength.

Health: I took my calendar and put my yoga and Pilates classes and even self practice in and on repeat for the whole year. I know that in March I will be traveling and I have a few conferences that will take me out of town. I’ll deal with those when they arise. For now, I can sit back and know that I won’t double book myself.

Personal: I have a bank account that is solely for this one student loan on autopay. I have never changed it because I couldn’t login to my account. I finally took the time (and yes it was a lot) to log in and change it’s auto pay to the bank account I actually use!

JobLove: I wrote out several workshops I want to film. I submitted them for approval for continuing education credits. I scheduled their filming dates. Next, I have to put in my tasks to make the filming dates happen.

I would like to share that I use a couple amazing apps to make my 2016 happen. 1) I do use a calendar. I even have a shared calendar so those who need to know are. 2) I use omnifocus to help me organize my projects and tasks. I can set due dates, defer dates (so I don’t have to see things that are not on the docket) and I can repeat things after I completed them. 3) https://basecamp.com/ allows me to assign some of my tasks to others. For example I need to update things on my website. I put it in Basecamp assign it to my web deb team and they get an email. They do it, check it off and I get an email. This takes the task off my mind and allows me time to do other things. PS my husband I used Basecamp to plan our wedding in 4 months. There were no fusses, fights or issues.

Stay tuned for next weeks update! Please share yours. We would love to hear what you did this week to rock your 2016 plan.
